So… the Police are now trialing mobile fingerprinting kit in some regions. Should they feel so inclined they can ask to take your fingerprint at the roadside.
Of course, it’s entirely up to you if you wish to comply with their request. It is a free country after all. You should be aware though that, should you refuse to give a fingerprint, you may be arrested.
…and the process of being arrested does involve having your prints taken.
They’re not daft are they?
Under the guise of securing the forthcoming UK Olympics they are also considering deploying highly sensitive microphones which can eavesdrop on a conversation in a public place from 100 yards.
Tony ‘The Fuhrer’ Blair seems in favour of this although even David Blunkett, former Home Secretary, who is generally to the right of General Franco, thinks it’s a step too far.
I’m concerned for him actually… it’s not like him to be worried about civil liberties.

So… George ‘Eloquence’ Bush’s Republicans get a trouncing! Perhaps the Thinking American is back?
I was actually incredibly impressed with some of the Senators I heard interviewed. I though all US Politicians spoke like ‘Eloquence’ but not so. Some very thoughtful and intelligent people over there it seems. What happened to the Rednecks?
Where does this leave Tony ‘He who ages rapidly’ Blair? (That’s what happens when you sell your Soul Tony…)
He’s now in the uncomfortable position of having to go along with a different set of policies set by Bush having repeatedly said that ‘I am thinking for myself, I just happen to agree.’ (with the current policies).
Don’t you love to see them squirm?

The UK now officially has the most loathesome teenagers in Europe. Nice one.
Can’t say I’m surprised. French and Italian teenagers are hateful just because they are so irritating. It least they aren’t thugs. German and Dutch kids are pretty well behaved in my experience.
So why are our teenagers quite so out of control? We also have the worst teenage pregnancy rate in the universe.
Let’s have a think… We have both the most draconian censorship laws in the civilised world and the most patronising licensing laws to go along with them. As an adult over the age of twenty one, would it be Ok for me to buy a drink after 11pm? Eh… No. Unless the particular establishment is a restaurant or a club or a pub which has specifically applied for longer hours.
Contrast this with most of Europe. You can get an alcoholic drink virtually 24/7. If you are spending money, the establishment will stay open for you and serve you booze untill you can’t make yourself understood any more. Strippers on the TV every night. Sex is not a taboo to be hidden away in the shadows. People aren’t easily shocked.
Could our laws and culture have anything to do with our teenager’s behaviour…?
Relax all the licensing laws and the ridiculous censorship laws. I would expect things to get worse before they get better but they would get better.
And… for the love of God… let’s start investing in our kids!! At the moment we are giving them the message that they are worthless. We won’t even educate them unless they are willing to saddle themselves with huge loans. That’s an insane message to give them!
Bring back the old style means tested grants. Let’s make our kids feel they are worth something.
That way they might stop smashing the bloody place up.

Apparently the Chinese government is quite keen on executing people.
No surprise there.
It also turns out that they bill the executed person’s family for the bullet.

I heard the Arch Bishop of Canterbury on the radio the other day, being interviewed by John Humphries.
When asked ‘Do you know that God exists?’ He had to answer, in a roundabout way, ‘No.’
So that’s that then.

The Uk has a DNA database of criminals. The problem is that not only criminals get their DNA taken and put on file. Thousands and thousands of completely innocent citizens get registered as well. It’s next to impossible to get your details taken off the register!
WTF is going on? There is a term for a society which tolerates this sort of thing: ‘Police State’!
Tony ‘the weasel’ Blair wants as many people as possible to be on this register. The argument being that ‘Innocent people have nothing to fear’ and ‘It’s clearing up X thousand crimes every year’.
Please tell that to the numerous people who have been wrongly imprisoned in this country in the last twenty years! Some of them were wrongly imprisoned for nearly twent years FCSake!
‘The innocent have nothing to fear’?? GMAFB!
How long until a corrupt cop uses the register to frame someone?
How long until the bad guys pay someone to delete them from the register?
‘But every safeguard is built in!’ Of course it is… just as it is in every ‘Digital Rights Management’ protection on our CDs. It takes about five minutes to get past them all…

At the end of October we reset our clocks an hour earlier here in the Uk and every October I feel like shooting myself at the stupidity of it.
The Scandinavians are a lot further north of us and know a thing or two about ’saving daylight’ I would imagine. Correct me if I’m wrong but they are now an hour ahead of us!
Correct me again but isn’t most of Europe an hour ahead of us now?
WhyTF do we do this to ourselves? Is it seriously about Scottish farmers?!?
Just about the only thing that git Archer said that was sensible was that we should give this madness up. How can someone like that be the most intelligent in the Uk parliament?
What does that say for the rest of them?
Jeeeesus…
