1) We are hoping that out ’sticky’ on the front page is reminding you to
use the ippimail shopping directory for your Christmas shopping this year.
There’s still time to get your items delivered in time for Christmas! The
shopping directory is a great opportunity for us all to raise funds for our
favourite charities for free. All it takes is a couple of extra mouse
clicks. Ippimail will get a commission for every sale the directory
generates. If we all did our shopping there, this could be very
considerable indeed. The shopping directory is very new but we can already
see that it’s going to be a very important aspect to our fundraising. We
hope you will enjoy using it.

2) Just in time for those jazzy Christmas emails, we have activated a very
cool ‘Composer’, complete with a UK spell-check. (Yessss!) Have some fun
with it but remember that the recipient has to be able to see ‘html’ emails
to see the full effect.

If you want to de-activate the composer, go to ‘Options’ and then ‘Display
Options’.

3) Thanks to those who have communicated to us that they are seeing ’spam’
getting through our filters. We really appreciate the feedback and are hard
at work pulling our socks up on that score. Gloves are off!

4) If people are forever asking what you want for Christmas, how about
setting up a ‘Wish list’ in your blog? This is how it could look

5) Here is another nudge to remind you to fill out your ‘Extended
questionnaire’. This would really help to increase the value of our
advertising space. Find it in the blue navigation bar at the top of the
page in your webmail behind ‘My profile’.

A quick reminder of the last newsletter:

1) Remember what a great home-search page the new front page makes. Now you can perform Google-powered searches and log in to your email account from the same page. This makes a great Home-Page!

2) Tell your friends that now they don’t even need to sign up to an email account to raise money for charities. They can just use our search, news or new blog features.

3) Some of the new banner adverts have been causing alerts in some browsers. This has been fixed now. Thanks for bearing with us!

4) Please communicate with us. Let us know what you are having issues with, what features you would like to see and how we can make ippimail even better. Post in the forums so all can see. Ippimail is a community effort and needs your input!

5) We are still getting some mis-addressed incoming mail. Remember your email address is @ippimail.com, not @ippimail.co.uk.

6) The most important thing… is to remember to fill out your profile under ‘my profile’ in the navigation bar when you are logged in to your account. It is all anonymous and safe but is vital for ippimail. We need to know more about you in order to add value to our advertising and raise more for charities.

1) Notice anything new on the front page?

We are very happy to be able to announce that our new search function is now in place, powered by the world’s favourite search engine, Google.

This is just one of the features we hope to be introducing in the near future, all aimed at getting the income stream to our charities started in earnest and giving our users more useful aspects to ippimail.

Funds raised will be divided in the usual way. Our regular users’ votes decide where the money goes.

2) What’s been going on at ippimail?

We have a new Developer! We would like to say a big, warm hello to our new technical guru, Tim! We are full of confidence that he will be able to fill the shoes left by Jason, who has now left us but to whom we owe a huge debt of gratitude and affection. Good luck to you in the future! Hopefully we will still see you chipping in, in Open Source style!

Since Tim has been on board we have been busy catching up with various behind-the-scenes upgrades and installing the new search function. We are also evaluating a completely new interface which would potentially give some very welcome new features.

Lots of new charities have also signed up. Welcome to them!

After our official launch in March this year, we now have enough users to move into an advertising and revenue phase, which means that funds should start to flow to the charities once the banner advertising proper comes on stream.

Please tell all your friends about us. Do you have a blog? Will you mention us? Link to us? Will you tell your boss about us? Perhaps your company would like to support the project by promoting us on your work intranet or website. Do you contribute to forums on the internet? Please consider adding a mention of ippimail to your signature. Every little bit helps!
